Nizhne-Bureyskaya Hydro Power Plant Commissioning

07.09.2019 Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP was commissioned in Amursk Region. With startup of the fourth generating unit Nizhne-Bureyskaya has become the largest hydropower plant which construction started in the post-Soviet period in Russia reaching its target capacity of 320 MW.

Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP is the second stage of Bureyskiy hydropower complex, the largest generating facility in the Far Eastern Federal District with average annual electricity output of 1.67 bln kWh that would be supplied via Far East unified energy system and would provide electricity to existing consumers such as launch-site “Vostochny”, large infrastructure and industry facilities as well as Gazprom’s Power of Siberia gas pipeline and Amursk Gas Processing Plant.

It should be noted that during the construction state-of-the-art technical solutions such as: computer aided 3D plant engineering and water reservoir modeling were implemented. In addition to this, it is worth mentioning that slurry wall technology as a waterproofing solution insuring both decrease in construction time and providing increased reliability was implemented in Russia for the very first time.
